Milwaukee based indie pop sister-duo REYNA are back with their new single “Coachella”!
“Coachella” is the first single off their highly anticipated debut EP, set for release this year. The song recalls a fantastic time and great vibes at Coachella last year, as well as the beginning of the end to a relationship.
The release also finds REYNA incorporating Spanish – their native language, into the song. In the past, the duo were hesitant to do so because they didn’t feel “American enough for Americans or Mexican enough for Mexicans.”
REYNA says, “We were at Coachella last year and we had the most amazing experience and the time of our lives. When we got home and back to reality we would joke with each other and say ‘we were so happy at Coachella'”
Vic adds, “This was also around the time that I started having problems in my previous relationship. When I think of Coachella now I think of the lifelong memories we made but I also look back and can see the beginning of the end of my relationship. It’s bittersweet.”
It’s been an incredible year for REYNA! Sisters Vic and Gabby Banuelos were co-signed by Tegan & Sara, and have received praise from MTV, Beats1, Rolling Stone, Billboard Pride, i-D, Earmilk, and many more.
Even though the iconic party in the desert isn’t taking place this spring, I hope that “Coachella” helps bring back fun memories for all and reminds you that better days are ahead!
