Channel 933′s Freecember Concert 2016 – Everything You Need To Know

It’s back! Channel933 and SDCCU present Kramer and Geena’s Freecember Concert at the House of Blues San Diego on Saturday December 3, 2016 @ 10:30 AM. Bring a new unwrapped toy and enjoy performances by Los 5, Hey Violet, Tinashe, Jordan Fisher and Daya! It’s all benefiting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego.

In this post, I’ll be answering frequently asked questions about the show, answering any new questions that may arise to the best of my ability, and giving you absolutely everything you’ll need to know before you head out… just like last year! You’ll become a #FREECEMBER expert! Get ready to read up!

DISCLAIMER: In no way am I directly affiliated with iHeartMedia. The information given in this post (including the lineup) may change at any given time. I will try my absolute hardest to give you the most accurate info possible! This post will be updated regularly.

Q: So this is really free?

A: YES! Just bring a brand new unwrapped toy and enjoy the show.

Q: What happens if I don’t bring a toy? Can I still get in?

A: Nope. Your toy is your ticket in the door. You’ll need one toy per person. No toy, no entry.

Q: How much does the toy have to cost? Is it okay if I bring a Monster High doll? What about an art set or a Shopkins toy? Or a puzzle or board game?

A: Dude, you’re fine. All new, unwrapped toys are welcome. Usually I’ll go toy shopping on Black Friday.

Q: What is the capacity of the venue? Is everyone who brings a toy getting in?

A: The House of Blues holds 900 people. A little more or a little less will be allowed into the venue. With that being said, the early bird will catch the worm. Please plan on arriving very early.

Q: Will the House of Blues be issuing front of the line passes, like they do for every other concert?

A: Most likely not, but I’ll get back to you on that.

Q: Is this all ages?

A: Freecember is always an all ages show!

Q: How early should I arrive?

A: As always, use your own judgement. In previous years, I’ve seen diehard fans camp out all night. This doesn’t mean (you) have to. But whatever you do, being late is not an option!

Q: When will the doors open?

A: Most likely, the doors will open at 9:30 or 10:00AM.

Q: How long is the show going to last?

A: The show usually runs for 2 hours. Each performer gets about 3-5 songs.

Q: Where do we line up?

A: For all HOB shows, everyone lines up on 6th Avenue

Q: ARE THERE GOING TO BE MEET AND GREETS? OMG I NEED TO MEET HEY VIOLET. CHELS, WHERE DO I BUY THE MEET AND GREET TICKETS? OR DO I HAVE TO WIN THEM? HOW?!?!?!!!?!? TELL ME NOW!!

A: As always, meet and greet passes can only be won. Read below to find out how you can win meet and greet passes for a Freecember artist! Be sure to keep listening to Channel 933!

Q: OKAY SO LIKE, HOW DO I WIN THESE PASSES?

A: You’ll have the opportunity to win on-air (by calling in), and online as well through raffles.

Q: CHELS HOW DO I WIN ON-AIR? I NEVER GET CALLER #9!

A: Listen to Channel933 all day. At different times of the day, meet and greet passes for different artists will be given away if you are caller #9. My biggest tips for winning would be to listen on an actual radio, because the iHeartRadio online stream tends to be behind by a few seconds. If you hear a busy signal, don’t give up! Keep calling back… sometimes it takes a while for the person on the other end to pick up 😉

Q: What’s the station’s phone number?

A: (858) 570-1933

Q: CHELS CHELS CHELS HOW DO I WIN ONLINE? OMG HELP ME OUT!

A: Click here to enter the online contest for meet and greets! You’ll need to log in using your iHeartRadio account. If you don’t have an iHeartRadio account, make one asap! Fill out your info, and select the artist you’d like to meet. Random winners will be selected for each artist. Be sure to enter once a day!

Q: How old do I have to be to enter to win?

A: You must be 18+ to win on-air. If you’re not 18+, be ready to pass the phone to an adult! Their info will be collected and they will need to be present to check you in for the meet and greet at the show. With that being said, please plan accordingly!

Q: If I’m under 18, does an adult have to come with me to the meet and greet?

A: The adult will only need to be there to check you in. Let me give you an example: Pepe just won meet and greets for Tinashe, but Pepe is 16 years old, so the meet and greet is in his mom’s name. Pepe wants to bring his best friend Becky along as well. Pepe’s mom will take Pepe and Becky to the check-in table, and Pepe’s mom will show her photo ID. The 933 promotions staff at the check-in table will give Pepe and Becky their meet and greet passes, and Pepe’s mom does not need to stay for the show. (So no, Pepe’s mom doesn’t need to bring a toy!)

Q: So like, how do the meet and greets work?

A: The great part about having meet and greets is that you really don’t have to camp out for hours. For the past 2 years, meet and greet winners lined up in a separate line to get into the venue. I’m sure it will be no different this year, since it lessens confusion. It’s a great idea to arrive at the check-in area early, but the 933 promotions staff is always speedy and will get everyone taken care of quickly. Your meet and greet photos will be taken in pairs (so basically in groups of 2, you and your guest) and on the station’s camera. There’s a 50/50 chance you’ll be able to have a photo taken on your personal camera or phone as well ~ so please don’t count on it! The photos will then be posted on the 933 website within the following days. Autographs are not permitted. Another thing to keep in mind is that it’s a quick hi and a photo op, not a hang out session. It won’t be extremely rushed, but please plan to keep it short because it will be… but that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun! If you plan ahead, you’ll have time to say what you’d like to say and get those amazing photo poses in too!

Q: So that means that I can’t get my cd signed or a video message for my best friend who’s a huge fan of Hey Violet? 🙁

A: That’s right :/

Q: If I win meet and greets, do I still need to bring a toy?

A: YES!

Q: Can I bring outside food into the venue?

A: Here’s a link to the list of prohibited items. Remember, security is there to keep everyone safe and not to kill your vibe!

Q: CHELS ARE YOU GOING?

A: Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend this year since I’ll be attending the 102.7 KIISFM Jingle Ball in LA the night before 🙁  But I can assure you that you’ll have an amazing time at Freecember!

Q: How can I get down to the House of Blues? Where would I park and stuff?

A: The blue line trolley will pretty much drop you right in front of the venue. Get off at the Fifth Avenue station, and walk south on 6th Avenue. The venue will be only footsteps away. You can also purchase advanced parking for various nearby garages and lots online. Uber is also a great, safe option! Use the code chelseyh98ue for a free ride worth up to $20.
