My Favorite 2019 Super Bowl Commercials

I don’t know about you guys, but I like to wait until the Super Bowl to watch the commercials on tv. While it can be very tempting to watch the commercials ahead of time, I want to be surprised! There’s simply no other television event that has advertisers getting this creative.

Even though I was totally rooting for the Rams, I felt like the event was pretty mediocre in general – commercials included. However, there were a few gems that really stood out to me. Here’s some of my favorite commercials from this year’s Super Bowl!

Pepsi – More Than OK

We all know that moment when someone walks into a restaurant and asks for Coke, and the restaurant only carries Pepsi products. This commercial is a take on the reactions drawn by the question “Is Pepsi okay?”

And I mean… you can’t go wrong with Cardi B, Steve Carell and Lil Jon!

M&M’s Chocolate Bar

M&M’s commercials are notoriously fun. Does anyone remember the “Sexy and I Know It” commercial from 2012? I couldn’t stop talking about it for days, and I will be able to say the same about this year’s commercial. Hopefully everyone watching on tv could recognize those voices in the beginning! My favorite part was when yellow’s leg fell down at 0:23. Way too cute!

2 Chainz X Adam Scott – Expensify

WE GET IT, 2 CHAINZ… YOU’RE RICH! Can’t relate. Doing expense reports the old fashioned way can suck, and he wants no part in it. 2 Chainz prefers using Expensify, and honestly speaking, so would I. (But I’m not at the point where I’d need to use such a thing, so I STILL can’t relate!)

The ad is also interactive, as you can itemize many of the products featured. Visit Expensify’s website to find out how. Also, that ice car is GOALS.

Doritos – Chance The Rapper x BSB

You are… my wifi.

So I saw AJ’s tweet earlier where he was posing with a bag of Doritos, and I sensed this was coming. I loved how Chance looked so serious in the beginning! The soul plane references had me screaming, and was a nice transition to the iconic hangar shots. This was the remix that we didn’t know we needed. But hold up a second… was that Lil Uzi Vert dancing?

T-Mobile – We’ll Keep This Brief

Yep, I’m that person. You might be that person too. “I’ll keep it short” becomes an entire novel. Whether you’re usually the recipient (pink text) or the author who can fit a whole book in a text message, I think most of us can relate to this ad.

Washington Post – Democracy Dies in Darkness

This was a very powerful message from the Washington Post. The truth sets us free.

Michelob ULTRA – The Pure Experience

And finally, my favorite ad! I loved the fact that ASMR was incorporated into a commercial. Zoë Kravitz did a great job, and my senses were definitely stimulated.

What was your favorite Super Bowl commercial this year? Were there any that you didn’t like? Let me know below!

I really enjoy the halftime shows more than the commercials although nothing excites me about Adam Levine and Maroon 5 performing. I agree that if Janet Jackson was sanctioned for nipplegate, as should he for taking off his shirt. Though my fave out of your lineup would be Pepsi with Lil Jon & Cardi B.

Hey there! I totally agree with you omg. I’m not turned on by guys taking off their shirts, and I was very unamused with Adam doing so during the performance while Janet was punished. I like Maroon 5’s music but that was a very forgettable performance. Would have loved to see Rihanna or Cardi perform but I definitely understand and agree with their stance to not want to go up there!

I did watch a tiny bit of the game but the half time shows lose me! Missed the commercials so it was good to see some of them!

I”m not into football, but I do watch the commercials. They’re some of the best entertainment I see all year.

The T-Mobile commercial was quite hilarious. I really enjoyed the more emotional ones, like the JEEP one.

Pytka didn t spend a lot of money to shoot Applause, which is often the case in today s economy, but the perception is that some of the most celebrated Super Bowl commercials had exorbitant budgets.
