New Music Friday: March 15

Sometimes you have to dig a little deep to discover new music. That was definitely the case for me this week. While I was in the process of preparing this week’s post, I found myself asking this question… how could anyone possibly groan and say that “music from today” sucks? While I understand that people love their nostalgia, there’s millions and millions of songs out here on the internet that we have access to at any given time. Recording techniques and technology have improved so much over the years, and there’s hundreds, perhaps even thousands of artists putting out their work daily. They’re waiting for you to give it a listen, and there’s bound to be something you like!

With that being said, I had a blast discovering many of the songs and EP’s I’m featuring this week. Check them out, and if there’s an upcoming release you think I should listen to, shoot me an email and serve me the goods!

LSD – No New Friends

Columbia

Last year, Labrinth, Sia, and Diplo teamed up to form the supergroup LSD. This morning, the trio released their newest single, “No New Friends.” It’s the kind of vibrant dance pop song that you’d expect to hear around this time of the year and play into the summer.

If you’re like me and can’t get enough of LSD, here’s some great news – LSD will be releasing a full album on April 12! You can pre-order it here.

LeyeT – thoughts

Nettwerk

thoughts is the debut EP from indie pop singer LeyeT (pronounced “light”). The EP features six upbeat synth-infused tracks, including the very catchy “Most People”. Seriously, you’ll have the “I do”‘s stuck in your head for hours!

There’s some works of music that will have you feeling refreshed and maybe even reborn upon just the first listen. They’re as authentic as they can be – and thoughts is one of them.

Johnny Orlando – Teenage Fever

Universal Music Canada

There’s a ton of emotions that come along with being a teen. I’ve been there. You’ve been there. But let’s allow Johnny Orlando to tell his side of the story of being a teen. The sixteen year old singer/songwriter and social media heartthrob’s EP Teenage Fever features a collection of tracks about L-O-V-E.

In a statement, Johnny said “‘Teenage Fever’, represents those experiences and feelings all teenagers have while trying to navigate their high school years. It tells the story of my journey, and I hope it will give people a more personal insight into my life and experiences. We spent about a year making this project and it means so much to me. I worked with so many cool people with different backgrounds and from different places, which gives it a lot of character and makes every song unique.”

You can catch Johnny on tour starting this April! He’ll be performing at The Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles on May 17.
