We all know the story behind the musical Grease. It was about time someone reinvented it, and that someone was Polartropica!
Polartropica is the music endeavor of Los Angeles based, whimsical space-pop artist, Ihui (eeway) Cherise Wu. Wu was born in Taiwan and raised in California. She blends quirky pop melodies, futuristic synths and classical string arrangements together to create groundbreaking dreamy, bubblegum psychedelic sounds.
Polartropica’s new music video for “In Another Life” is a take on the 1970’s musical Grease, but with an LGBTQ-centric story line. It is part of a trilogy of videos for the upcoming album Dreams Come True.
“In the LGBTQ world, a popular slogan we use is “Love is Love” and I wanted to take a deeper dive into that,” Wu explains. “I’ve always felt that, as humans we are all so interconnected, and sometimes we can even feel or have a bond with someone that we’ve never met before or come from a completely different religion, culture or upbringing”.
