Derek Luh’s new single “Jerry Maguire” is out now, and don’t be surprised when you find yourself replaying it more times than you can count!
Derek Luh is a recording artist, model, and entrepreneur who first broke onto the scene in 2013 with his debut mixtape, LA Confidential. Since then, he has worked with the likes of Dizzy Wright, French Montana, and Wale. He has also toured with Machine Gun Kelly and IAMSU! Derek has a very strong social media prescience, and spent the first half of 2019 developing his independent label, Low Sodium Records, an interactive app, and finishing his new EP.
“Jerry Maguire” is an infectious, feel-good track with “a completely new sound”, as Derek says. He explains, “From the production to how I sing and rap, everything is new and polished. I’m starting to become more polished, going from a mixtape rapper to an actual artist.”
Derek’s inspiration for the track was completely spontaneous and organic. He shares, “Honestly that day in the studio I was like ‘I wanna make an anthem, something everyone can sing along to. I wanna be on stage and don’t even wanna sing the hook.’ I couldn’t think of anything to write about because I had so much going on in my head and in my life. My thoughts were all over the place and then it hit me, I’m just going to make a song about exactly that”.
