Orchid is a London based singer/songwriter who is making a huge mark with her debut single “Gold Dust”, out today!
Drawing inspiration from the likes of M.I.A, Britney Spears, Kelis, Grimes, Charli XCX, and Rosalía, Orchid is creating R&B infused electro-pop that will make you feel like dancing!
Here’s what Orchid had to say about “Gold Dust”…
“I wrote the song from a place of dark comedy I guess, about my own experiences of being around the highs, lows and split personalities of addiction, and how easy it is to look past it in the name of love.”
“Gold Dust” is a self-proclaimed “Anti cocaine banger” that details a number of people in Orchid’s life whose motives and cruel-er moments were ruled by the drug.
Speaking a little more on her music, she says “These upcoming releases tell a few stories from my life. All of them are super personal and lyric-centric – from night-shifts and the bar-life underworld to a classic case of middle eastern superstition. I always make my music with dance and movement at the heart of it, I’ll describe the way a sound should be with the physical expression of it first and then reverse-imagine it into audio like: “this is what the dance move would look like”.
