JUJ is a 19-year-old R&B/Pop artist from Philadelphia, currently based in LA. Her new single “Pieces” is out now!
Just like many who are chasing the dream, JUJ moved to Los Angeles on her own, despite not having any family or friends in town. She attributes her strength and determination to her mother, a former dancer who immigrated from Brazil to the US when she was 18.
As JUJ began to make a name for herself in the LA music scene, an untreated case of Lyme disease unfortunately caused her to move back home. However, she didn’t give up on her dreams. As soon as she recovered, she moved back to LA and continued to push forward with her music. She worked on her debut EP JUJ, It’s U, and her new single “Pieces” reflects upon her journey as an artist.
JUJ says, “‘Pieces’ is about my personal struggle with insomnia, which has been and still is a huge struggle for me. I wrote the hook of the song at 4 am in my bed while I was at the heat of my insomnia, then I went to the studio the next morning to write this track.”
