Neon Dreams are a Halifax-based indie pop duo, made up of frontman Frank Kadillak and drummer Adrian Morris.
In the beginning, Neon Dreams set out to push boundaries and experiment with different musical styles. The duo raked in over 20 million streams, a gold record, and a rapidly growing fanbase! However, they felt like something was missing.
Frank Kadillak attended a healing retreat in Sedona, Arizona, where he was encouraged to open up about his troubled childhood. Although painful, it made Frank realize the power he holds as a songwriter – and how he can help change the lives of others through music.
With a newfound musical perspective, Sweet Dreams released their debut album Sweet Dreams till Sunbeams in 2019. The album features themes of empowerment, and upbeat, positive vibes throughout all 9 tracks.
“I’m hoping that my personal stories can give our fans the happiness they deserve if they are missing it,” says Kadillac. “I used to think making music was just a cool thing to do and a way to make myself feel better. But then I realized just how much it affects people’s everyday lives. This album is the start of me building a home for myself and anyone else who is looking for shelter under my relatable stories.”
Recently, Neon Dreams released “Turn Back Now” – their first single of 2020!
“Turn Back Now” is an extremely personal song for Frank, who witnessed his mother going through chemotherapy and beating cancer last year.
“I was amazed at how positive she remained through the entire process. It made me realize the power of positive thinking. I wanted to create a song that would help inspire others facing struggle,” says Frank. “I started watching movies, reading books and listening to music from my childhood that inspired me and made me who I am. I realized they are all heroic. This phrase came up a lot: ‘we came way too far to turn back now.’ I wrote the song based on that concept.”
“Turn Back Now” serves as an important reminder that it’s okay to feel sad, but as long as you don’t give up, you’ll make it through whatever you’re going through!
