Here’s some exciting news from Anna Shoemaker… her new EP, Everything Is Embarrassing, is on the way!
To celebrate, Anna is giving us a little taste of the EP. She has shared her new single “Funny”, an exciting, catchy track co-written by Alexander 23!
Anna says, “I wrote ‘Funny’ a bit ago with my friend Alexander (Alexander 23). This song in a sense is a sort of joke, I was in this relationship where we were fighting and disagreeing so much it actually started to be funny. I wanted to find a cheeky way to express how I was feeling because I was too scared to be vulnerable. Writing this song was kind of like me just snapping and being like ok if we’re going to do this I need you to pick up the phone and come over and be there no matter what without actually saying those things in a serious way.”
“For the video we wanted to do something really out there. We wanted to create that relatable idea of being too stoned and paranoid and freaking out and multiply it by 10. I worked with an amazing stylist, Olivia Perdoch who really helped bring all the different characters on the tv to life. This was probably the most fun I’ve had making a video and I think it shows!”
Anna Shoemaker gained notoriety with her SoundCloud mashup of Kendrick Lamar’s “B*tch Don’t Kill My Vibe” and Chance The Rapper’s “Cocoa Butter Kisses”. It caught the attention of Steve Madden, and Anna was signed to his label 5Towns Records in late 2017.
Now, Anna has signed with BMG and is releasing her new EP Everything Is Embarrassing via BMG on February 28! Click here to pre-save.
She says, “My music is really personal and about my life, I’m excited to be signed with BMG because I feel like they really understand what I’m trying to do. Everyone there is really great and supportive, I feel lucky to work with such a great team :).”
