Erin Kirby is an Atlanta-based pop singer and songwriter. She has received praise from various notable outlets, including being named the ‘Best Local Singer/Songwriter’ by Jezebel Magazine.
Erin recently released a new single called “Lying”, which is a total bop! I got to chat with Erin about the meaning of the song, and got a little insight on things that led her to become the brilliant artist she is today!
Hi Erin! First of all, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hey! I am a pop soul artist from Georgia. I call myself a tomboy with a glam face meaning I love the outdoors and I love makeup and all things that shine. I really love doing philanthropic activities. I love working with kids and animals.
When did you first discover your love for making music?
I really just always loved music event when I was really young. I started in pageants and entered the talent portion. I quickly realized that I wanted to do be an artist and started performing. I started writing after my best friend passed away in an accident. It really was a way to heal. I now write all the time and love creating songs.
Your new single “Lying” is out now. Can you give us a little background on how it was like creating this track?
I wrote “Lying” on my guitar and then we had the producers build around the melody. I wanted a song that described situations that I had experienced as well as some of my friends both male and female. I wanted a song you could turn up and sing along to and just get out your emotions when playing it.
2020 is going to be a huge year for you! Do you have any more new music on the way soon?
Yes!!! I am so excited to be in the studio and creating a lot of new music!!! I am so excited for 2020.
What is something that helps fuel your creativity?
Reading books of poetry really helps inspire me to do something creative.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give to any aspiring musicians or creatives?
To be patient and trust in God’s plan for you.
Is there a song that has been stuck in your head lately?
