Major Lazer Reel In Marcus Mumford For New Single ‘Lay Your Head On Me’

Since my blog is like my diary that the whole world can read (if they want), I figured I should give myself a moment to word puke about this song!

If you know me at all, literally at all, you know how big of a fan I am of Diplo and Major Lazer. Even then, I don’t think me just saying “I’m a big fan” completely grasps how much I love them and what this project has done for me over time. To this day I still can’t put my finger on what it was that drew me into Diplo… but whatever it was, I’m thankful for it.

Anyways, today Major Lazer dropped their new single “Lay Your Head On Me” featuring Marcus Mumford. When this song was announced, I had a feeling it was going to hit way different. To me, everything that Diplo touches hits different but I just knew this one was going to hit WAAAAAY different.

Well, this morning I woke up pretty frustrated. What’s new? I’m not too bothered over the fact that I’m in quarantine right now. I accepted the fact that this is how stuff is going to be for quite a while. I won’t be working any concerts, festivals, or conventions in a long. long. time. I’ve been trying to keep that thought in the back of my head, remind myself that all of us in this industry are going to overcome this, and just focus on the stuff I can do right now while I’m at home. I had some really cool ideas and… they don’t seem to be working out today. I feel like I have to take the blame for it, but I guess it’s just another one of those days.

The moment I heard “Lay Your Head On Me”, I felt visible again. According to Diplo’s Instagram post, this song was written over a year ago. I doubt that back then, anyone who worked on this song saw us being where we’re at right now in a season where life got put on hold for pretty much everyone. No matter how busy we try to make ourselves at home, some of us are inevitably going to feel extremely isolated and this is normal. I just hope that we can all find something, even if it’s one thing, that brings us comfort during this time.

For me, it’s gonna be this song.
