Savanté Shares Socially Distanced Music Video For ‘Beautiful’

During these times, feelings of discouragement are not uncommon. While we’re well over a month into quarantine, it still feels odd not being able to meet up with friends to do photoshoots, record TikToks, or even sit down at a cafe and write! Many of the things that we were used to doing must now be done in a different way.

This is truly an occasion that calls for improvisation, and Savanté just nailed it with the new music video for his latest single “Beautiful“!

Savanté is a multi-talented artist who started creating music when he was eight years old. He recorded his first album when he was sixteen, and has previously performed under the aliases Stevie Werner, and Steph Gold aka The Mad Musician.

Originally, Savanté and his team at W&M Media had plans in place to film a full music video for “Beautiful”. However, due to the global pandemic caused by COVID-19, these plans came to a halt. The overwhelming fan reaction to “Beautiful” was brought to the attention of Savanté and his team, with social media influencers, actors, and friends making fun videos featuring the song. Soon, the #IAmBeautiful campaign was born.

The music video for “Beautiful” is a stunning collection of these clips, and knowing Savanté isn’t letting the current circumstances slow him down is very inspiring! We got to chat a little bit about the meaning of the “Beautiful”, his reaction to (the reactions), and more!

Hi Savanté! Thank you so much for chatting. First off, what was the inspiration for your song “Beautiful”?

Hi! Thanks for having me, I appreciate it. The inspiration for “Beautiful” was started as a self love, affirmation anthem. Adrian Newman and Ryan Stewart, who co-wrote “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen, and I were very intentional about what we wanted to say. We wanted the fans to start loving themselves more. All those people who feel undervalued, unappreciated, unloved, abandoned, I want to fix that. Now more than ever it’s so important to lift each other up.

What does the #IAmBeautiful campaign mean to you?

I’ve never heard a dance record, a banger, named Beautiful. The hashtag allows you to claim it, own it, be proud of who you are, where you are. We all have our insecurities and when you think about it, they are not true. It’s about redefining the image, the idea of Beauty. That it’s not just reserved for a select group of people, it is for everyone.

What was your initial reaction to seeing so many people on TikTok enjoying “Beautiful”?

My jaw dropped. I can’t take credit for the idea of the video, it’s just created itself. When I saw some of the final edits, I had a feeling in my stomach, how important this was.

Is there anything you hope folks will consider while watching the “Beautiful” music video and listening to the song?

I hope people make more TIkTok’s to it. Even if they don’t, I hope they just turn it on, play it loud and release all of their feelings. It’s such a feel-good anthem, I want it to get stuck in their heads, maybe they’ll start to believe they’re beautiful.

What has been one of your favorite experiences on your musical journey?

The amount of people that have been inspired by the music I write is my favorite aspect of this work. I also love the dedication and passion it takes to bring it to life, it doesn’t always just happen. It’s incredible when it does.

What are some of the ways you’re staying occupied and inspired during this time?

I have never been so busy. We are also launching a clothing line called W&M Clothing, it has the “Beautiful” T-shirt in men’s, women’s and kids. There is also a cell phone case and a few other T-shirts that I am so proud of, it’s not artist merchandise, it’s a real clothing line. On top of that, I do yoga in the morning, drink a liter of structured water, work out, write, interact on social media, do interviews, write music and meditate at least twice a day.  I also take three mastery courses to keep my business awareness sharp, I read, I’m obsessed with plant-based cooking right now. That list goes on, but generally, those are my staple tasks for the day that do not change. It’s become more of a lifestyle than it has work, which I love. My day starts around 9 am with Yoga and ends around 1AM.
