Madison Slicker is Amava – a 23 year old singer/songwriter with a sound she describes as “music you can dance in the dark to”… and we gladly will!

Amava grew up in Central Oregon, and her musical journey began when she was 10. Through her school, Amava got to participate in the Americana Project – a program that helps develop young artists and songwriters. The Americana Project allowed Amava to bloom into writing her own music, and she found herself writing singer-songwriter style music, playing the guitar, and performing in local talent shows. Amava would write about 100 songs a year for the program.

When Amava entered high school, she considered traveling to Nashville to write and explore the scene. While on a cross-country drive, Amava brought her guitar into an art gallery, where she was then discovered by who would then become her publisher!

Having found early inspiration from artists like Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears and Norah Jones, Amava’s music style started to shift towards pop. She would send music back and forth to her publisher, and in 2016, Amava decided to take a leap of faith and move to Nashville.

Amava graduated from Belmont University, and earned a Bachelors in Music Business – all while continuing her artist and songwriting career! She went on to sign a publishing deal and an artist development deal with Sea the Desert Entertainment, and released her first single “Blush” and the B-side “Waves” in 2018.

Amava says, “a lot of what I write is based on how I’m feeling in that exact moment and I’ll try to write all the way through it in order to capture that high, messy feeling that started the song. Every song, sound and lyric will sound very different song to song because I want each one to encapsulate a feeling, and as a human, we all feel things very deeply and each emotion is very different, so depending on how I’m feeling, that can sound very different from if I’m writing from a low place or high place.”

On Friday, Amava released her third single “Fever Dream,” a song that she describes as her “breakup song with the summer months” and “her inability to handle messy situations without ‘cutting off all my hair’ or ‘selling all my clothes’.”

Needless to say, it’s a bop!
