Tomorrow X Together Unveil ‘The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY’

Tomorrow X Together are officially back with their new EP, The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY!

The quintet released the mini album today, which continues the story being built by the band’s debut album, The Dream Chapter: STAR and The Dream Chapter: MAGIC.

I stayed up until 2AM PST to listen to the album when it hit streaming services, and then stayed up a little later to watch their M2 Comeback Show. I didn’t sleep until 4AM, but IT WAS SO WORTH IT. This album is ALL I’ve been listening to today.

The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY starts off with “Drama”, which will inject heavy hitting pop soundscapes right into your veins and make you want to shake your body! IT IS A BOP. I hate thinking about needles going into veins, so I’m not totally sure why I presented that scenario, but it involves TXT so I’m here for it.

The title track “Can’t You See Me?” is a (melodically) bright pop track about the end of magical moments spent with friends. TXT released a music video for the song, which you can check out below! It continues where the video for “Run Away” from The Dream Chapter: MAGIC left off.

In the video, the members visit Soobin’s house, and they all seem to have a great time. Their relationship slowly begins to turn sour, as their instances of mischief start piling up. Things definitely do get tense, and the cracks between the friendships are illustrated by a house on fire.

And honestly speaking… the lyrics “Friends don’t understand me, understand me anymore” definitely hit home.

Then there’s “Fairy of Shampoo”, which is TXT’s remake of the ’90s track by Light & Salt. This is the group’s first remake, and features a rap verse by Yeonjun. Everything about this song – the trumpets, the synth, the bass, the vocals, literally EVERYTHING feels like a daydream. It’s so smooth.

“Maze in the Mirror” is about the group’s experiences as trainees, and it’s a lovely little lowkey ballad that fits in perfectly. The song was co-produced by Beomgyu, and is their first official release co-written by all five members.

The energy bolts back up with “PUMA”, which compares a boy who meets a strange world to a puma escaping the zoo. Then, things wrap up with “Eternally”, which sings of chaos and reminiscence on the search to find memories from the past. There are surprising changes in tempo throughout the song that will have you see the shift between dark and light, and may even leave you with a little whiplash!

The Dream Chapter: Eternity throws elements of various genres together in a huge blender, and serves them in a wonderful style. It’s definitely one of my favorite EPs of the year so far!
