Petra Jarrar does it all! The singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and model has performed all across the globe. She has also opened for artists like Drake Bell and Jake Miller on national tours and music festivals. She has been labeled “New York’s Pop Darling,” and you’ll surely know why when you check out her new single “Past Life.”

“Past Life” is about the experience of reconnecting with an old lover, unexpectedly!
Petra shares, “I’ve always wondered what it would be like to reconnect with someone from my past. Then, it happened. I ended a relationship with someone I loved deeply. The timing was not right, and we were not our best selves with each other. After months of no contact, I heard from him. We decided to meet up in a park in Bushwick. In the moments leading up to seeing each other, I felt a range of emotions. I was excited but anxious. I was furious, but also scared. There were countless things I wanted to say but was worried that being open and vulnerable would make him think that I’m weak. In my mind, I played so many different scenarios of how seeing him could have gone. ‘Past Life’ touches on the hazy and chaotic emotions of a love that was lost, and what would you do if you had the chance to rekindle that love once again.”
“Past Life” also allowed Petra to channel her inner pop diva and fully be the artist she wanted to be! Petra confesses, “Previously, I wrote songs that always ended with always making the best out of a bad situation. Since I was 18, I dealt with loss, trauma and heartbreak by bottling up emotions and locking them down deep inside. I never could say outright, ‘hey, things are not okay.’ With ‘Past Life,’ I wanted to explore the intensity surrounding the emotions I felt at a crucial moment in my life. I wanted to be honest and real with myself.”
