Katy Perry is giving everyone one last taste of her brand new album Smile before it drops next Friday!
Today, Katy shared “What Makes A Woman,” which is the final track from her fifth studio album. In an interview with NRJ Lebanon back in June, Katy revealed that she dedicated the song to her unborn daughter – hoping that she realizes she can be whoever she wants to be. This deeply emotional, yet empowering track outlines many of the qualities that women bring to the world. It’s a celebration of strength, resilience, and individuality.
Katy also unveiled a stripped-down performance video of “What Makes A Woman,” accompanied by her band. You can check it out below!
By far, this is my personal favorite song from the Smile era, and possibly one of my all-time favorite Katy Perry songs. I think it truly encompasses everything this era has stood for – being able to find strength and beauty during a dark time.
