Sometimes, you just need a fierce pop song to help you get through the day. Putting visuals along with it can help it take on a brand new meaning, and it’s safe to say that’s the case here with the music video for Cali Rodi’s latest single “God Save The Queen.”
Cali Rodi was discovered in Nashville by Keith Urban, and spent years perfecting her vocals. In 2017, she released her debut single “Party Favor,” which was added into rotation on Radio Disney for four months. It was also featured on top Spotify and Apple Music playlists! Cali now lives in LA, and has a publishing deal with Red Bull Songs.
The inspiration for “God Save The Queen” sprouted after Cali experienced physical assault in broad daylight. There was no one willing to help her or get involved, and it made her think about just how hard it is to be a woman in a world like this. She shared, “I wanted to create a song that gave me hope and strength because I felt powerless in the moment.”
Cali had a goal of transforming a traumatizing experience into a powerful anthem, hoping that others can realize there’s still room to enjoy yourself in a cold world.
The music video for “God Save The Queen” was directed by Joe DeSantis and Shawn Binder, and features Cali reflecting alone inside of an old church in Los Feliz.
