It’s Time To Listen To Mothica’s ‘Blue Hour’

Rising electro-pop star Mothica’s debut album Blue Hour has just arrived, and it’s just as empowering as it is audibly satisfying!

Blue Hour was written over the course of a few months, beginning with a stay in a psych ward for self-harm. The album tells stories of Mothica’s experiences and struggles with addiction, her mental health, and the road to sobriety.

She shared, “Following that incident, I sought therapy and wrote lyrics detailing my journey into sobriety. I am now 13 months sober at the time of writing this, and have never been in a better place emotionally.”

McKenzie Ellis grew up in Oklahoma City, and channeled the pain of traumatic experiences as a teen into art. Her Mothica project was born, and in 2015 she released her debut EP Mythic. All songs on the EP were written, produced, and performed by Mothica herself, and the single “No One” landed on Spotify’s US Viral 50 charts. She’s collaborated with artists like Said The Sky, SLUMBERJACK, and many more. Mothica has also performed dozens of headlining shows across the country, and built up a loyal fanbase that has been waiting eagerly for a day like today to come!
