Disclosure’s new album ENERGY is here, and it’s full of… well, you can guess what word I’m going to use here. (Hint… it’s the album title!)
200 songs were written by Guy and Howard, and they all seemed to just flow out naturally. The brothers wanted to make as many songs as they could and choose the best of the best to go on the album. Today, we get to celebrate the 11 songs that made the cut!
ENERGY kicks off with “Watch Your Step” feat. Kelis, then jumps right into “Lavender” feat. Channel Tres. This was one of the first songs written for the album, and was completed rather quickly. Although the brothers had never met Channel prior to creating “Lavender,” they had tons of fun together, and were able to complete the main hook and verses within an hour.
Just like “Lavender,” pretty much the entire album was created in good spirits and served as reminders of great memories. ENERGY features previously released tracks “ENERGY,” “My High” feat. Aminé and slowthai, “Douha (Mali Mali)” feat. Fatoumata Diawara, and “Birthday” feat. Kehlani and Syd, which was released just this week.
Alongside ENERGY, the music video for “Birthday” has also been released! Directed by Kid Studio, the video shows Kehlani and Syd squished up into dollhouses, just thinking about life. Is it really okay to tap in with that one person, or will it be too awkward? Hmm….
