A Look Into Mougleta’s Wild Ride

Mougleta is a Lebanese-Canadian singer and songwriter who has been making huge strides in 2020. While she is currently based in Berlin, Mougleta was born into a nomadic lifestyle, having lived in several cities and countries. Pinpointing a place on a map where she has felt like she has belonged has been a struggle, but one thing is for sure… she belongs in the music world!

Just this year alone, Mougleta has released various singles and has received playlist support via Hitradio and Spotify’s Global X. Mougleta recently dropped “Lonely Girl,” a song about how the fine line between reality and fiction seems to become more and more blurred.

Mougleta says of the song, “They say just because you’re thirsty you shouldn’t drink poison. ‘Lonely Girl’ isa song about the world we live in today where the lines of reality and fiction are blurred. We share a life of happiness and glamour with the world that we’re not actually living or feeling. This leaves many of us empty inside. ‘Lonely Girl’ is about the difference.”

The excitement doesn’t stop there! Mougleta also teamed up with OH MY GIRL and Keanu Silva for the massive new track “Rocket Ride.”

Here’s a peak into Mougleta’s mind, and the wild ride she has been on!

Hey Mougleta! Can you share three quick fun facts about yourself?

1- It’s crazy I know but from the age of 6 I had an obsession with drinking spicy tomato juice, paired with sour candy, my favourite to this day.
2- As a kid I would always drive my mom nuts because all I wanted to do is run around half naked, it’s also the reason I was named Mougli.
3- I love cloths and looking good but I really, really hate shopping.

What originally made you want to dive into making music?

When I was in primary school in Toronto I was in the school choir and fell in love with music singing, Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror and Heal the World to name a few.

When you were growing up, you moved around quite a bit. How has this influenced your artistic life?

This impacted my artistic life immensely. My melodies are fused by sounds, rhythms and feelings I picked up from the hustles and bustles of Cairo and Beirut, the modernity of Toronto and the logic of Berlin.

“Lonely Girl” makes us ponder upon the thought of how many people are living somewhat of a false reality, especially fueled by social media. Do you find it easy to be authentic in your music and online, no matter what is going on around you?

I can’t lie, it’s not that easy but fabrication has never been my game, authenticity and being true to myself and others, is. Ask around, they’ll tell you.

Alongside releasing “Lonely Girl,” you also teamed up with OH MY GIRL and Keanu Silva for “Rocket Ride.” How was piecing that together like, and were there any vast differences from your typical songwriting process?

I’ve done many features / collaborations in the past and in some cases with artists and producers who were located in different countries. The only difference was that this was my first attempt at Kpop, always loved the genre so I was really excited about the opportunity, specially working with such talent as Keanu and Oh My Girl.

What are some of your goals for the rest of 2020?

Like they’ve always been, to take over the world! Seriously though, all I want to do is to reach as many people with my music as possible. I love making people happy, that’s my mission in life!
