There’s many ways to tell a story, and Barret Turner’s choice method is through his music!
Barret Turner is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Dallas, Texas. Barret picked up the guitar when he was a kid, and was constantly making music. However, it never really left the walls of his room until recently. Barret has been working hard on his craft, creating a 10-track album full of personal stories. Each song from the album will be released as a new single every month.
One of those personal stories is Barett’s latest single “Always You,” featuring Will Jay. Check it out below!
“Always You” was originally written six years ago, and was titled “Encore.” The song was about Barrett’s friend’s mother passing away from cancer. Years passed, and the song was never released. However, since Barrett really wanted this song to come alive, he decided it was time to go back to the drawing board.
Barrett says, “Now it’s a very different song but the same message still lives inside of it. When I reached out to Will to see if he would sing on one of my songs he picked this one, I’m not sure why but I guess this one spoke to him. After going back and forth on the lyrics the song changed meanings making it more about someone feeling lost and finding themselves while realizing that that they had it inside them all along. When I listen to this song now I still feel Diane. I feel the transition her family and my friend having to deal with her passing and moving on but never forgetting, I can only imagine the pain, and lost feeling that might feel like. Almost starting life from scratch.”
