It’s time for a fiery new single from Isabela Merced! Today, the multi-talented artist released her new single “Don’t Go.”
Isabela co-wrote “Don’t Go” with Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo. To make this an even more powerful jam, Isabela enlisted Mexican actress, singer, and model Danna Paola to hop on vocals as well!
“Don’t Go” is a song you simply won’t be able to get enough of. Isabela says of the song, “Being a young Latinx, I always want to find a way to merge the old with the new. Lyrically, it’s about a bit of a chase in a relationship. I don’t know where this guy’s feelings are, but in the video, you get clarity for what’s really going on…and it all make sense. There is pride in the lyrics about being a Latina, Danna, Mexicana, and, me, Peruana! We wanted to find the right feature for it and finally did. It had to be a Latin artist who could SING—a female powerhouse. So, Danna joined us, and I couldn’t be happier.”
Isabela also released the accompanying music video today, giving a stylish nod to both artists’ roots.
“The music video is a fantasy that plays on our primal instincts for what we would do when feeling betrayed,” Isabela says. “We shot in two different locations, Danna in Mexico, and my part shot at the Houdini Mansion in Los Angeles. We wanted to keep it old fashioned but adding our own twist to the looks. My favorite, a nod to my Peruana roots, the lime green outfit inspired by the Peruana Ñusta braids, and Inca princess gold jewelry, with some authentic Peruana pieces. Also, don’t miss a cameo from my three-legged dog Pluto, and a whole lot of baile!“
“Don’t Go” arrives just a few months after Isabela’s debut EP the better half of me. Isabela is no stranger to the spotlight. The 18-year-old singer, songwriter, actress and performer grew up in Ohio, and landed on Broadway’s Evita at the age of 10. Isabela has also appeared in films such as Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Instant Family, Transformers: The Last Knight, and of course, starring as Dora in Dora and the Lost City of Gold. Her solo debut single “Papi” has been streamed over 5 million times on Spotify, and the music video received over 12 million views on YouTube.
