It’s time to get all up in Dasha’s business!
Dasha got her very first taste of being in the spotlight when she was three years old by participating in a community play. While she didn’t have any lines, she just knew she was in the exact place where she belonged. Two years later, Dasha began to take piano lessons, and started to sing and play the guitar as well. Her love for art continued to flow through her veins all throughout her childhood, as she wrote award-winning poems while in elementary school. Dasha also started playing gigs at local coffee shops and restaurants in San Luis Obispo.
It soon became clear that Dasha was ready to take her passion for music to the next level. With the help of a family friend, Dasha wrote her first song “Talk To Me.” As a 13th birthday present from her family, Dasha had the opportunity to record “Talk To Me” professionally and create a music video for the song! Dasha also began to attend songwriting camps and take vocal lessons, as she began to write and perform much more frequently.
Through it all, Dasha insisted on wanting to have a “normal” teen experience. Although many had suggested she move to LA, Dasha decided to build up her career from home. She got to serve as a class officer in high school and be the captain of the volleyball team, all while creating music with her brother and other producers/collaborators.
At the time, Dasha totally lived the best of both worlds!
Yet somehow, Dasha managed to make them even better. She spent a summer in Nashville, and decided to attend Belmont University for their famed music program. While at Belmont, Dasha met singer/songwriter zyyn, and they released their collaboration “Heart on Hold” in 2019. Dasha also performed at various venues in Nashville and LA.
Everything that had taken place throughout Dasha’s career so far led to her receiving the opportunity of a lifetime. Dasha was selected by SONY in a song and artist competition in Nashville to release her single “Don’t Mean A Thing” via SONY Germany/FAMOUZ Records. After some additional exciting live performance opportunities, Dasha signed with Quadio Records, an independent label based in NYC.
Now, Dasha is back and ready to feed us her newest alt-pop offering, “None Of My Business.”
“None Of My Business was written around the feeling you get when the person you want doesn’t want you back,” Dasha says. “The storyline in the record is exaggerated into walking in on the guy you’re with and another girl cheating, but the sentiment is the same. There are so many songs about crying over someone who doesn’t want you back but I’m not about to spend that much energy playing the victim and being hurt over some dude. ‘None Of My Business’ is all about showing that person the bad bitch they lost and almost rubbing it in their face a little!”
Give “None Of My Business” a spin below, and say hi to Dasha on Instagram @dashamusic and Twitter @dasha__music.
‘None Of My Business’ is the epitome of what I’ve been creatively trying for since I first began writing. It’s so satisfying as an artist to know that I finally reached the point in my career where I can confidently outline who I am as a writer and artist and where I see my sound going – None Of My Business is all of that and more.” – Dasha
