Whether we’re playing Among Us or just living a normal day in our world, we all know the feeling of being able to tell someone (or something) is just “sus.”
As Halloween approaches and things seem to get a little more spooky, 14-year-old singer/songwriter Kaatii is offering no tricks – just treats! Equipped with a voice beyond her years, Kaatii has just released her new single “Afraid of the Dark.”
Anna Katherine, aka Kaatii, was exposed to a diverse array of genres of music growing up. However, while on a family trip to Louisiana, Kaatii became curious about playing the guitar. She was gifted a guitar the following week for her 7th birthday, and began writing her own original songs at the age of 11. Everything just took off from there!
“Afraid of the Dark is all about being unnecessarily paranoid for no real reason. You know, when your mind gets a little bit twisted and a coat looks like a ghost. The song is a fun take on something that is not fun at all,” Kaatii shares.
“The inspiration for this song came from one really horrible night of sleep in a remote cabin in Colorado,” she adds. “I was in Breckinridge for a songwriting retreat and the very first night I ended up having the worst paranoia of my life, going in and out of what felt like sleep paralysis. In the morning, my co-writer, Kara Connolly, and I ended up writing this song after she was too afraid to sleep as well.”
