Many people will say that they don’t need drugs, they just need music to get their fix. It’s time to get yours with Eves Karydas!
Eves Karydas is a singer/songwriter from Brisbane, Australia. Eves pens deeply personal lyrics that have managed to resonate with her global audience. But what’s a song without a beat? The production on Eves’ songs will gives listeners a polished feel one second, and a gritty DIY feel the next. It’s unapologetically her, it’s the perfect pairing, and it continues to reel more and more listeners in.
In 2018, Eves released her debut album summerskin and quickly established herself as one of Australia’s brightest rising stars. The majority of the album was written as Eves was transitioning from a teenager to an adult, and gaining her independence. summerskin has received millions of streams, support from tastemakers worldwide, and has led to Eves embarking on sold out tours, landing festival slots, and even opening for artists like Dua Lipa and George Ezra.
Earlier this year, Eves returned with “Complicated,” which has had a huge significance on Eves’ life. Eves wrote the song alongside co-writers Calle Lehmann and Max Thulin in Stockholm while on a trip around the world. The entire experience of piecing the track together was one to remember, and gave Eves some more clarity as to where she wanted to take her career.
“It wasn’t until I wrote ‘Complicated’ that I was like, ‘Oh okay, I think I understand what I’m trying to achieve now,’” Eves admits. “As soon as that happened this whole world just opened up to me. I’m feeling a like my vision is a lot clearer.”
Millions of streams later, Eves is back with another serving of her musical magic. Today, Eves released her new single “Get Me So High,” which details being hooked on a relationship even if it isn’t always smooth sailing.
Eves confesses, “Someone once said to me ‘being in love is like being given drugs for free’. At the time I was experiencing a real lack of security in the relationship I was in. I was constantly on edge and allowing the other person to dictate whether my mood was up or down. It left me feeling so unhinged. The annoying part of it all was that no matter how many lows and red flags there were, I was addicted to the highs. It clouded my vision. I like to joke that this song is what you get when three girls in their twenties sit in a room together talking about their disastrous love lives.”
