The whole concept of a live stream show has taken on a new meaning in 2020. Once seen by many as just a temporary fix, live-stream shows have become a prestigious way for artists to connect with their fans. With each performance, artists are re-inventing the concept in their own ways.
Last night, The Academic visited the Belvedere House & Gardens in their hometown of Mullingar, Ireland for an exclusive live stream set. The peaceful ambiance of the location could be felt through the screen, perfect for cozying up with a blanket and vibing as the chills of the winter rolled in.
Or, simply dancing around in the living room. When you’re in your own home, you can do whatever you want, right?!
Prior to the show, lead singer Craig Fitzgerald opened up about the group’s visions for the show. He spilled, “When we talked about the idea of performing a live show with no audience and in the context of streaming, we knew we had to make it something unique and special so when the idea to play at The Jealous Wall came up we were really excited by it. It also gives us an opportunity to get a lot of people back to work including our crew who have been hit harder than most this year.”
The Academic had a history of their own with The Jealous Wall. The guys visited the site as teens for a photoshoot, then returned a few years later. Then last night, The Academic paid The Jealous Wall yet another visit to perform for fans who tuned in from all over the world – right from the comfort of their own homes.
Performing an hours worth of songs from throughout their career, including their Acting My Age EP, The Academic were able to create even more memories at The Jealous Wall. If you missed out, well… let’s just say you have every right to be jealous.
