Let’s Get ‘Weird!’ – A Look Into Yungblud’s 2nd Album

There’s no other way to put it… this year was weird.

In just a few months, or weeks I should say, we will be almost right back to where we started. It’s strange having gone so long without feeling the energy of other people in person. It’s something that our bodies need, our brains need, and to have had it all whisked away in a matter of days was almost indescribable. Add that on top of so many other things that we totally didn’t see coming, and yeah. The only word you can really come up with to describe such a thing is WEIRD.

But tomorrow, YUNGBLUD is giving us an opportunity to let out some of this energy that has been building up inside of us with the release of his sophomore album, Weird! The project is a direct response to all of the crazy events that have unfolded over the past year.

“A lot of people feel trapped, and a lot of people feel pressured to have an answer,” YUNGBLUD admits. “This album reflects that it’s alright to have questions and feel scared and confused, because every f**king one of us is.”

A few of the songs featured on Weird! have been sprinkled out into the public over the past few months. Most recently, “acting my age” feat. Machine Gun Kelly, which truly embodies the overall vibe YUNGBLUD is trying to deliver with this project. He described the song as “a result of what happens when me, mgk and travis get together, the energy’s electric and we write songs that amplify a feeling. this song radiates just going fucking nuts at your favourite show, a feeling that we all need right now. this song is about losing control and feeling free with your best fucking mates.”

The messages of individuality and liberation that are intertwined into this album can truly stick with you for life. You may even catch yourself asking, where has this BEEN all my life? YUNGBLUD himself revealed that Weird! would have likely been *THAT* album he’d turn to for comfort when he was younger.

He spilled, “I think it would have helped me because I wrote it about what I’ve heard and what I’ve learned, and sometimes what I learned hurt a lot. I was like I wish I would have heard this before I learned it, but then and again I’m like, I’m happy I felt everything I felt, because this helped me write this album. I think it would have helped me, but maybe I wouldn’t have been in that position I’m in now. But, I’m excited to see what people and young people feel about this because I’ve put every single part of my soul. When I look at people across the world in the eye and I feel their emotion, man, it f**king blows my world up and it turns me inside out. That’s real. Being in LA and being in Hollywood for a bit, it’s just so full of bullsh*t and sh*t, but when I go to f**king Texas, when I go to f**king Chicago, when I go to Nigmegen in Holland, when I go to Manchester, when I go to f**king Perth, Australia, they are real people and they are real stories. So, I know this album is going to f**king resonate. I know, and I’d say I’d wish I would’ve f**king heard these stories at 15 because f**k me, I would’ve made a lot less mistakes I think.”
