We all know the saying “shoot your shot.” Surely, it can be intimidating, because it’s easy to think about how wrong an introduction can go. It can also go so right, but you’ll never know until you take that chance. Dayglow is making light of the entire situation with his vibrant new single “Close To You.”
Dayglow is Sloan Stuble, a 21-year-old from Austin who simply wants to make music that will help listeners get through their days and cope with life’s challenges. For most of his adolescence, Sloan felt out of place living in his Forth Worth suburb of Aledo. He turned to music as a way to block out everything else going on, and he found it quite therapeutic!
Soon enough, Sloan created his debut album Fuzzybrain. The 2018 release earned him tons of support from listeners near and far, and a dedicated online following. Fuzzybrain was a 100% DIY project – Sloan had minimal equipment to work with, and released the album all on his own. Fuzzybrain also included “Can I Call You Tonight?,” which has surpassed 170 Million streams worldwide, and reached the top 5 rankings on various radio airplay charts. If that isn’t something to celebrate, I don’t know what is.
The celebration continues today with “Close to You.”
Originally, “Close to You” was meant to be a duet, but Sloan decided to ride solo with this one. He spilled, “The song itself is about the tension between two people at a party that never said hello. It’s about the excitement and perfect fantasy you play in your head prior to seeing that person, the mediocre and nervous reality of the actual moment you see them, and the let down that always comes afterwards it not being what had always and only been living in your head. I envision the song being played inside someone’s brain— kind of like the movie ‘Inside Out’- after they are leaving a party, thinking about what they wish would have happened. But in reality, they are actually just singing to and about themselves.“
