It’s a little crazy to think about how only five months ago, TREASURE launched themselves into the universe. The twelve member boy band made their grand entrance with THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER ONE, a single album featuring the exhilarating “BOY.” For as long as boy bands will exist, songs will be made about wanting to be the listeners love interest. The difference with TREASURE is the fact that right off the bat, they decided to turn their energy levels up as high as possible.
Since then, TREASURE released two more single albums, each marking a new chapter in the band’s opening story. Collectively, the singles sold over 700,000 copies, and each title track topped the Line Music Japan charts. TREASURE also took home the Male Rookie of the Year award at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards, sealing off a stellar year for the guys.
Five months later, TREASURE’s first full-length album has arrived! Prior to the release, the members expressed just how excited they were to see the project come together at their global press conference. Hyunsuk shared, “We worked so hard since debut, so it was like watching the story of our growth.”
THE FIRST STEP: TREASURE EFFECT is filled with themes of hope and love, which the members hope will uplift their fans during these times. Jihoon said, “We worked on this album so that we could cheer up many people around the world as well as Treasure Makers. I really hope our music can give comport to Treasure Makers.”
This can especially be felt with the title track “MY TREASURE.” If you know me at all (and even if you don’t!) you should know I’m always down for bright concepts. The song provides a message of reassurance that things will turn around, and better days will follow.
