Have no fear, Curtis Waters is here to quench your thirst for great new music with his new single “Doodoodoo”!
21-year-old Curtis Waters is taking over the world in his own way. Curtis was born in Nepal, but made his way around the globe as a child with his family. They eventually decided to settle in North Carolina, and Curtis dove into music production. He’s always had a thing for art – as a kid, Curtis enjoyed writing poems and doing graphic design.
Curtis Waters is a one man show, and a true DIY artist. As soon as he started uploading his self written, produced, and engineered tracks online, heads began to turn in his direction. Just last year, he released his debut album Pity Party via his own label. Curtis wrote, produced, performed, and mixed the album in his bedroom. Throughout his life, music has provided Curtis with an escape from many of his battles. He opened up about his experiences navigating through them all on this album.
Curtis spilled, “‘Pity Party’ is an album I started when I was at a very low point in my life when I dropped out of college and moved back home last year. I had a lot of time to think about all my struggles growing up as a brown kid in North America dealing with mental illnesses and the guilt that came with it. It’s about getting better at coping with life. I get a lot of brown kids messaging me telling me I make them feel like they can do anything too, which is awesome. Hopefully people can listen and feel less alone. That would make all the difficulties worth it.”
Pity Party features the standout single “Stunnin” feat. Harm Franklin, which has recently achieved RIAA Gold status in the US. It has received over 650 million streams worldwide, and is also hanging out in the Top 40 US Radio charts.
“Doodoodoo” is Curtis’ first single of 2021, which he described as “a song about taking a bath :).” The track will leave listeners feeling refreshed, just like that feeling after stepping out of a nice warm shower after a long day. Curtis Waters will have many more new bops on the way, so stay tuned.
