Have you ever found yourself in a position where you felt the need to babysit your friends, or perhaps your lover? Okay, let me give you a scenario. One day, you suddenly got volun-told into carrying the weight of someone else’s problems, on top of your own. While you don’t want to seem or feel like a bad partner, you just can’t help but wish you could say “hey, I’m not your mother!”
It is so stressful! Today, indie pop singer and songwriter ALITA is back today with a song for all of us who have been there. Titled “I’m Not Your Mother,” the track dives head first into those emotions of being placed in this awkward situation.
“This is a song about resistance & self-discovery in the face of modern romance,” ALITA explains. “It explores the implicit & explicit expectations placed on women throughout history and how empowering it feels to set yourself free from carrying someone else’s emotions on your back.”
