Your history with someone has the potential of making a situation a lot easier, or a whole lot harder. It can be hard to come to terms with, but sometimes both parties need to accept that things were simply not meant to be.

Some things in life are just way too complicated. What isn’t complicated though, is hitting the play button on Cautious Clay’s new single “Roots”!

“Roots’ is about having an established history with someone and coming to the often-difficult realization that things ultimately will not last because of elements in the relationship that are toxic,” he says. “I tried to make that sentiment known in the first verse, ‘from atoms up to comets, life is never promised, you could make me wanna lie and be dishonest’. It’s about wanting to put yourself out there and be emotionally vulnerable to a fault, however ultimately knowing what’s best is for both people to separate and move on.”

Cautious Clay has been quite busy lately – he’s currently working on the second season of Forest Whitaker’s “The Godfather of Harlem.” He’s also been releasing new music, such as “Dying in the Subtlety,” “Agreeable,” and joining forces with Remi Wolf, Still Woozy, Sophie Meiers, Claud, Melanie Faye and HXNS for “Cheesin.”

Let’s go get tacos and that red punch and drive all around the city together with “Roots” on in the car… after we get our COVID vaccines, of course!
