As the pandemic continues, it can seem as though humans are becoming more and more distant from humanity. Brittan Smith’s response to this issue is laid out in his new single “Cyborg”!

Growing up in Kansas, Brittan Smith would frequently polish his powerful pipes in preparation for a life full of music and singing. As he grew older though, he made it a mission to create music that celebrates individuality, and to ultimately leave listeners with a sense of empowerment.

Throughout his teen years, Brittan often struggled with anxiety, depression, and being met with anti-LGBTQIA comments. As he started to upload covers on YouTube, his classmates would target him and leave very hateful comments on his videos. However, this never stopped Brittan from doing what he loved – in fact, it motivated him even more to continue to bring his visions to life. He continued to upload covers, and started branching out into making mini-films too!

Brittan ended up moving to LA after finishing college, and became a part of a very supportive community of artists. He also took on work as an actor, model, and production designer. Most importantly, Brittan was able to find his voice as an artist and performer, and unlocked a new level of love for his craft.

As Brittan prepares to release his Going Rogue EP, he’s kicking things off with “Cyborg” – a plea for humans to re-connect with one another. He says, “I wrote Cyborg about not wanting to feel numbed out anymore and breaking from the cog in the machine life I felt trapped in. At least that was the epiphany that came about after staring at the wall for like 30 minutes in lockdown wondering what life even was.”

“I believe we need to find middle ground and start looking at our fellow humans as fellow humans,” Brittan adds. “That really is what this e.p. will focus on. There is so much polarization, so much hatred and dehumanization and it’s only serving those who pull the strings and run this system. We’ve still got some fight, we’ve still got some time to turn this all around.”
