The world is a totally different place than it was back in 2017, and I’m almost certain Charlotte Lawrence can say amen to that.
2017 was the year Charlotte Lawrence released her debut EP Young, a project that now represents a moment of time that has been long gone. Charlotte was a teen at the time, and was just beginning to tap into her creative reservoir. But as she grew, her musical horizons did too.
All throughout 2020, Charlotte re-connected with the sounds, instruments, and influences she loves the most. She wrote some of her most vulnerable songs yet, and now she’s giving the world a glimpse of her current reality with her new self-titled EP. Consider it a re-introduction to Charlotte!
“I cannot put into words how deeply ecstatic I am to finally release this EP,” Charlotte shares. “It feels very nostalgic as I’ve spent the last 2 and a half years making ‘Charlotte.’ This EP is a window into my mind, heart, soul, and all my experiences.”
Charlotte Lawrence started the year by getting real about her anxiety in “Talk You Down.” As she acknowledged the fact we’ve all had all sorts of emotions running high over the past year, she showed us how she copes with her own. Talking to someone can provide some relief, and so can listening to a song you completely resonate with.
Last night, Charlotte performed “Talk You Down” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Watch below.
“Talk You Down” is Charlotte‘s opening track, and as the EP goes on, listeners dive even deeper into Charlotte’s brain and heart. Building some sort of emotional connection with these songs shouldn’t be a challenge, and that’s Charlotte’s ultimate goal here. She says, “If my EP touches at least one person, then I feel like I’ve won.”
Whether it be singing about the struggles of being in a relationship on “Sin x Secret,” the sting of heartbreak on “Slow Motion,” or maybe even wanting revenge on her classic “Why Do You Love Me,” Charlotte is not holding back at all with this project.
