If someone’s being fake, why should anyone make them feel like they’re the real deal by keeping them around?
Just think about it… but while you’re thinking, you should definitely listen to bülow’s new single “First Place.” Over the past year, she’s been making observations about those around her, being able to pinpoint who is truly there for her and who isn’t.
As bülow says, “It’s about somebody who wants your attention but isn’t very genuine. Since we weren’t friends, why do you care today? I definitely went through this experience with a couple of people who only reached out when it was convenient for them. Quarantine was a big light to see who was actually in my life for the right reasons and who care about what was going on. Sonically, it pushed me in the direction I’m headed.”
Let’s face it – we’ve all been there. We’ve all had people around us that seemed to only reach out when they needed something. Or perhaps, having a friend (or friends) who seemed as though they only cared about one aspect of you, and not you as a person. There comes a time when you realize you deserve better, and “First Place” will help guide you through it all!
There’s something therapeutic about nodding your head along to a guitar driven song like “First Place.” The track also pays homage to bülow’s beginnings as a busker in England.
Since releasing her debut EP Damaged Vol. 1 in 2017, bülow has prepared plenty of alt-pop treats for the world to devour. She’s also teamed up with artists such as Whethan and The Chainsmokers for some fun dance anthems, and has played festival sets all over the globe. Last year, she covered Frank Ocean’s “Lost,” which has surpassed the 1.5 million stream mark on Spotify.
bülow is back, baby! Stream “First Place” below.
