Will Hyde loved Steve Winwood’s 1986 hit “Higher Love” so much, he decided to create his own version of it!
Last year, Will Hyde embarked on his journey as a solo artist. The former member of the production duo SŸDE released a series of singles, leading up to his debut EP with u in mind. The deeply personal project showcased the best Will had to offer, and there’s more on the way this year.
Will’s rendition of “Higher Love” came at a time when he noticed a ton of change happening in the world – especially political changes. He says, “It felt like a time when we were more divided than ever.. sometimes I feel the news can further widen that gap between people too. I remember waking up and the song was in my head for the whole morning. I don’t usually make covers, I just felt like I could put an interesting spin on the song and make it my own. I always wanted to have guitar in it so that it could separate itself from the original work. I love the original song and think Steve is amazing, I just wanted to have my unique touch on it as an artist. I hope it can transport you to another world for a minute with everything happening on our planet!”
He continues by saying, “I hope we can start to realize that we are all the same and want the same things – to be loved, to be appreciated and recognized. The only answer is to search within ourselves to try and find peace on an individual level, before we can love each other. The only answer is love!“
