Women’s History Month might be over, but let’s strive to keep the spirit alive all year long!
All of us who identify as femme must stick together and lift one another up. Sometimes, it might seem like the words “women supporting women” get tossed around a little too much. It might become cliche to say, and calling yourself a “girl boss” might even seem cheesy. But the underlying message still stands – we have to be able to recognize our worth, and be our own cheerleaders. Life can be rough, and the past year has definitely proved this to be true. But we’re resilient, we’re unique, and we’re unstoppable.
Hold on to whatever keeps you going. For me, it’s music, and I love a song that helps remind me of the power I told! I’ve never dated anyone, but I’ve formed extremely close bonds with friends of all genders. Perhaps some of them were a little too close, but many of them ended up falling very flat. It’s left me traumatized, and I think it’s a feeling many can relate to in some way.
When we’re left feeling drained, songs like “All Your Exes” by Julia Michaels are here to help us recharge. Don’t you wish you could live in a world where exes (or any form) just didn’t exist? It would surely make life a whole lot easier!
Julia Michaels is known for penning songs reflecting life’s ups and downs. Recently, she’s been doing it side by side with her lover, who happens to be Grammy nominated singer and songwriter JP Saxe. The two have a healthy relationship, and it has allowed Julia to shave off some of the feelings of dread when thinking of her own ex. In “All Your Exes,” she redirects that angst to her current lover’s exes!
We all want nothing but the best for those we care about, and “All Your Exes” is the embodiment of it. Topped off with a little dark humor (like… wishing those exes were dead) the song definitely channels Julia’s bad bish energy. Hopefully it’ll help you do the same, because “All Your Exes” can be applied to your own life too. Despite what anyone has told you or done to you, you can and will persevere.
So say goodbye to *those* exes, and say hello to “All Your Exes.” Stream below.
