Soak Up Baby Queen’s New Single ‘Dover Beach’!

In a month, it’ll be a year since Baby Queen released her debut single “Internet Religion.” One might say that her music has been taking her to new places she’s never dreamed of. There is one place Baby Queen had long dreamed of visiting though, and as a result of her voyage, we all get to enjoy her new single “Dover Beach” today!

When Baby Queen was in school, one of her favorite poems was called “Dover Beach” by Matthew Arnold. Having been wanting to visit the Dover cliffs for so long, she ended up making a voyage to the area last year. Going solo, Baby Queen was able to get quite a bit of writing done, and even wrote the melody and lyrics to this song while sitting on the beach! However, a certain someone just kept coming to her mind.

Even when someone isn’t “living in your mind rent free,” thoughts of said person might just arrive completely unprovoked. They have a tendency to overstay their welcome, and can show up at the most inconvenient times too. If you know the feeling, “Dover Beach” is a song for you!

Baby Queen says that “Dover Beach” is all about “being infatuated with somebody and seeing them everywhere you look. I was kind of pissed that I went to look at the beach, all I could think about was this person, hence the lyric ‘you stole the view of Dover Beach.’ It’s another internal struggle with my own insecurities and a sort of acceptance of the fact that I can’t escape my daydreams of this person, even if I go to a different place.”

“Dover Beach” marks Baby Queen’s Island Records / slowplay debut, and was just featured as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record in The World. Check it out below!
