Sasha Sloan and Sam Hunt Ask “When Was It Over?”

David O’Donohue

Coming to terms with a good thing running out is a challenge many might not be able to accept.

(Including myself, duh. There’s been times in my life when great friendships have turned extremely toxic, and common sense told me to distance myself from said people. After all, these people no longer really seemed to care for me and my own happiness. But guess what? My heart was like NAW. Give them the benefit of the doubt, Chels! You’ll miss them if they’re gone.)

If you’ve ever been there in any way, shape, or form, Sasha Sloan and Sam Hunt surely have a song for you!

Today, Sasha Sloan just dropped her first new single of 2021, “when was it over?” featuring Sam Hunt. Written alongside Shane McAnally, Emi Dragoi and King Henry, the track embodies the bittersweet feelings of the final stages of a relationship. When was the exact moment the person you cared about just mentally checked out of your heart? Even though plenty of time may have passed, sometimes you can’t help but look back upon everything and try to pinpoint the moment when it really was over.

As Sasha says, “’when was it over?’ is about not being able to let go of someone even when you know there’s nothing left. Shane brought the title into the room and Sam and I both loved it. The rest fell into place from there.”
