The process of creating music can be a deeply personal experience for many, and often a labor of love. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why Hae.zy’s new EP Love Letter seems so authentic, and the title in itself seems so fitting!
Hae Hyun Choi, aka Hae.zy dropped her debut single “The Morning After” in 2018, and has since been exploring and pushing the boundaries of pop, jazz, R&B and Neo-Soul. She just released her debut EP Love letter, which includes five songs representing who she truly is.
“I believe that we are all a puzzle piece to the unity of this world, and everyone has their own timing to be heard and seen in their own unique way,” says Hae.zy. “This time specifically was made for me, to release my first love letter to the world, and I hope it delivers to those well.”
Starting with “Just Sayin,” Hae.zy delivers a message of encouragement to those who have been judged for speaking their truth. In “The Lesson,” she confronts the truths of the world, and in “Hazy lines,” she addresses the labels others have created to judge one’s artistry. There’s also “Mong (dreams),” which Hae.zy has based on a dream her mother had while she was pregnant with Hae.zy! She says that it “describes all the emotions and visuals that my mother felt and saw in the dream but also sheds light on some superstitions in Korean culture about pregnancy dreams. The voicemails my mother left me is also featured in some parts of the song to fully show & tell a mother’s love… a mother’s journey.”
Hae.zy has truly penned a letter to cherish. Listen to Love letter below!
