Billie Eilish, We Love You And “Your Power”… Seriously.

Kelia Anne MacCluskey

(Now, you’re probably starting this off like… “Who the heck is WE, if YOU’RE the only one running this blog Chels?” We is you and me. You and I.)

Seriously though, Billie holds an immense amount of power. At this year’s GRAMMY Awards, Billie took home Record of the Year for “everything i wanted,” and Best Song Written For Visual Media for “No Time To Die.” Earlier this year, she also released her Apple Original Film “Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry.” And now, she’s getting ready to release her sophomore album Happier Than Ever on July 30 via Darkroom/Interscope Records!

“Your Power” is a little sampling of what WE can expect to hear on Happier Than Ever, and it’s one of Billie’s absolute favorite songs she’s ever written. She shared in an Instagram post, “i feel very vulnerable putting this one out because i hold it so close to my heart. this is about many different situations that we’ve all either witnessed or experienced. i hope this can inspire change. try not to abuse your power.”

Needless to say, this is a very personal song for Billie. As she mentioned, it can be applied to so many different scenarios where one feels as though they’ve been silenced, or straight up made to feel powerless by someone else. We’re living in a time where we realize that many of the “powers that be” in various settings have completely abused their power, and we won’t allow them to get away with it for much longer.

“Your Power” is one of those songs you listen to from start to finish and go DAMN! It might leave you speechless, and personally, I can’t find more to say beyond the fact that it’s truly a powerful one.
