Cat & Calmell Will Make You Want To Get Yourself A “Jorge”

Don’t you just love it when a random act of kindness turns into something even bigger?

In this case, it turned into Cat & Calmell’s latest single “Jorge.” The rising Sydney-based duo known for crafting spicy tracks such as “dumbshit” and “dramatic” just delivered an absolutely irresistible late-Spring single. Just as irresistible as a man who will go out of his way to help out someone in need, without even thinking twice.

“Jorge” is based on a true story that unfolded as Cat & Calmell were heading to a writing session. Cat spilled, “Calmell was driving on empty and we decided we’d be able to make it to the train station but of course, we didn’t and broke down. A super nice man named Jorge was spraying insecticide on the side of the road and came and helped us out. We went to that session (although an hour late) and wrote this adorable song that’s immortalised this interaction we had with a kind stranger!”

If you can’t get enough of “Jorge,” you’ll certainly want to mark your calendars for June 25. Cat & Calmell will be releasing their debut EP Life Of Mine via Island Records, and hopefully blasting these songs while driving around town will help me summon my own personal Jorge! Cat & Calmell said, “This EP is so special to us because it encapsulates a time in our lives that was full of a lot of excitement but also a lot of uncertainty. It’s such a time stamp of our slightly younger and slightly more reckless days. A lot of the songs on this EP were written a while back so it’s nice to see where we were and where we came from both in terms of our music and our headspace back then.”
