What have Luke Steele from Empire Of The Sun and songwriter/producer Jarrad Rogers been up to? Well, they’ve been up in a place way beyond the nearest stars, working on songs that will be heard all throughout the galaxy!
Luke and Jarrad met up in Los Angeles one day, and everything came to the two so naturally. The two connected on a deeper level than expected, and envisioned a project where music and visual art could represent the heart’s desires in the future. But no matter what planets are being inhabited by humans in the year 3000, the heart will always crave electronic music.
H3000 officially launched in March with “July Heat,” which shadows the conflict between following good and following evil – because sometimes, we really do have an imaginary angel and devil sitting on our shoulders. Being able to put this track out was a dream come true for Luke and Jarrad, especially since they weren’t sure where the journey they embarked on would take them. “We started at one place and ended at another,” recalled Luke. “You don’t really understand how you got there, but you know it was guided by something very special.”
Not all is bright in the Universe though, and H3000 wanted to show off a darker side of life with their new single “Running.” Jarrad considers it to be one of the most personal songs from this project, as it was one of the very first songs he worked on with Luke. He mentioned, “I still remember getting a rough vocal through from Luke, pressing play, and by the time I’d heard the chorus, I was in such awe that I’d thrown my phone to the other side of the room.”
Luke also said, “Words are very powerful; they hold poison or peace, hope or heartbreak. The song ‘Running’ talks about taming the tongue and understanding the strength it has.”
H3000’s self-titled debut album will be ready for liftoff on September 17. Click here to pre-save, and check out the “Running” visual experience below!
