There’s no other way to say it – Zoe Wees has a voice that is so hard to get enough of! You just won’t stumble across a 19-year-old with such powerful pipes every day. If you couldn’t stop listening to her previous hits “Control” and “Girls Like Us,” Zoe has a true treat in store for you!
On Friday, Zoe Wees released her debut EP Golden Wings. Each of the five tracks on this EP holds a special meaning to Zoe, as they all cover very personal events that have unfolded throughout her life. Take “Control” for example, which finds Zoe confronting her emotional scars that resulted from her struggle with Benign rolandic epilepsy as a kid. “Girls Like Us” offered a very real approach to the pressure many girls around the world face for simply being a girl. Then there was “Ghost,” which was written about letting someone get a little too close to you, despite knowing they may take advantage of you.
With Golden Wings, Zoe introduces us to “Overthinking,” a song many who have felt alone in their struggles may be able to relate to. There’s also “Hold Me Like You Used To,” a touching tribute to her late great-grandmother.
Zoe says, “Each of the songs are autobiographical and very special to me. In a way‚ the EP was written as personal therapy, with each track helping tackle my own mental health. In regard to my great-grandmother, my mom told me the one who leave are looking down at us with golden wings, so that’s why I called my EP ‘Golden Wings.’ When I think of golden wings, I have to think of the way my great-grandmother is looking down at me from above.”
Golden Wings is a new career high for Zoe Wees, and she’s not stopping here! This is just the beginning for Zoe. Check out Golden Wings below!
