BTS joined Stephen Colbert on The Late Show tonight for a finger gesture lecture and another crazy good performance of their new single “Butter.” Although “Butter” has only been out for a few days, it has already broken quite a few records and even made history!
The official “Butter” music video received 108.2 million views on YouTube in 24 hours. This made it the most viewed music video in 24 hours on YouTube, a title previously held by “Dynamite.” BTS now hold the #1 and #2 spots for the top 24 hour music video debuts on YouTube. Legend behavior much?
The music video premiere for “Butter” also broke the record for the most viewed YouTube video premiere! According to the YouTube Music team, the “Butter” premiere had over 3.9 million peak concurrent viewers.
Meanwhile on Spotify, “Butter” received over 11 million streams on its first day – the biggest Spotify debut in the history of the platform! “Butter” also broke the record for the most single day streams on Spotify, and had the highest debut position (#2) on the Spotify Global chart.
BTS also took home some pretty huge wins at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards this past weekend! For the fifth year in a row, BTS won the fan-voted “Top Social Artist” award. The guys also earned the titles of “Top Duo/Group,” “Top Song Sales Artist,” and “Top Selling Song” for “Dynamite.” (Yes, I was at the BBMAs this year, and YES, my voice is still hoarse from screaming right before their acceptance speech!) And of course, BTS absolutely tore up the stage with their first ever performance of “Butter.”
Feels good to be an ARMY, doesn’t it?
All of this is definitely a reason to celebrate, so BTS got a little fancy on their Late Show performance. The number was filmed at The Raum, one of Seoul’s top wedding halls. BTS are the main characters, and they’re coming up with a new story line every time. It will be great seeing all the unique performances of “Butter” in the coming weeks and months, as the guys did with “Dynamite.” No two were alike, and each one was easily capable of leaving viewers in awe.
Ready to have BTS melt your heart into two again? (By the way, Jin did warn you in “Butter” that he was going to do so!)

Kings doing king things. By the way, has anyone found Jimin’s pogo stick yet? We better help him look for it as we stream “Butter” 😉
