For most young artists, getting into a position where making music turns into a lifelong affair is the ultimate goal. Jasmine Thompson has been on this path since she was a child, and some may even say she’s already there. She has over 3 billion global streams under her belt, a new EP on the way, and even a massive collaboration with Zedd.
And of course, a new song out titled “already there.”
Jasmine Thompson started recording her own music when she was only 10 years old, and ended up signing a deal with Atlantic Records at 13. She left school the following year, doing it all while in the studio and on the road. But in order to not get totally burned out, Jasmine decided to take a step back for a while to focus on life outside of the music industry.
The now 20-year-old singer from London has spent the past year an a half reflecting upon that specific period of her life, plus many more. She recalled working as a waitress who fell deeply in love with someone, only for it to turn into a long-distance relationship. During one of her many quarantine Zoom sessions with songwriters from all over the world, Jasmine turned this specific story into a song, which happens to be “already there.”
Jasmine has plenty more stories to share, and we’ll all get to hear more of them as 2021 goes on. For now, check out “already there” below!
