It’s music over everything else for Morgen, the 16-year-old newcomer from Santa Cruz. Everything else includes peer pressure, drama, and (literally everything else) that comes with being a teen. Does not caring about it all make her, or anyone else for that matter, an outcast?
Morgen grew up with her musician father in Santa Cruz, and started playing music as a toddler. At the age of five, she joined her father’s band, and started doing musical theater a year later. She can kick butt in Karate as a black belt, but she also knows how to kick butt musically. Her debut single “Odd One Out” should be proof of it.
As she sat on a pile of songs she’s written over the years, Morgen felt like the time for her to fling herself into the music world was approaching quickly. Before the pandemic, she traveled to LA for a couple of writing sessions, and kept the momentum going over Zoom when things shut down. She ended up assembling her debut EP, which features “Odd One Out.”
“Odd One Out” is an upbeat, uplifting anthem for those of us who have ever felt the struggle of fitting in. This song will fit into your playlists perfectly though, and will easily leave you eager for more from Morgen.
