Longing for someone you wish you could have built a stronger bond with sounds painful, but thanks to Stephen Sanchez, it has never sounded so good.
At just 18 years old, Stephen Sanchez has become a pro at showcasing his musical abilities and stealing the hearts of listeners from all over the world. Back in June 2020, Stephen stepped into the spotlight on TikTok by posting a clip of a song he wrote titled “Lady By The Sea.” He was overwhelmed by all of the positive reactions, as the video received over 100,000 views overnight! A month later, Stephen released “Lady By The Sea” independently on Spotify, and it has now received over 4 million streams on the platform.
Keeping the momentum going, Stephen continued to post more clips of himself singing both covers and his own original compositions. For Stephen, it’s all about the music. Accompanied by just his guitar most of the time, Stephen quickly showed his fans that sometimes less is more. One doesn’t need a fancy setup or top of the line equipment in order to create a euphoric listening experience. All one needs is a story to be able to feel, and Stephen had plenty ready to share.
One of those stories happened to be “Kayla,” a song Stephen penned about a friend he once had feelings for. He spills, “I wrote Kayla while sitting alone in my bedroom thinking about this girl (Kayla) I had a thing for 2 years ago. I wanted to write her this song because at the time she didn’t see all the wonder I saw in her. I wanted to capture that wonder in hopes that maybe she’d see it for herself someday. With this song I hope people are brought back to a child-like innocence all love has at its core and that the lyrics would “hit-home” enough for someone to look at love with a little more heart.”
Teaming up with Ian Fitchuck for production, Stephen was able to bring “Kayla” to life as his first official single with Republic Records. You can call Stephen a crooner, but at the end of the day, he’s just Stephen Sanchez… and he’s leading a new generation of talented singer-songwriters who are creating their own paths with their digital footprints.
