Maggie Andrew Heads Into “Survival Mode”

There’s nothing holding LA-based singer/songwriter Maggie Andrew from speaking her truth, or from creating captivating music that does just that. She’s been at it since 2019, and has even been invited by blackbear to do a duet titled “Sleep 4Ever.”

This year, Maggie set out to create a trilogy that found her reclaiming all she has struggled with, and reminding listeners that they, too, can overcome whatever they’re facing. She kicked it off with “Honda Civic,” which was about her leaving Nova Scotia and starting a completely new life. All was left behind, including her Honda Civic, and her toxic ex who would try to divert her from following her dreams. Next came “ILMIHM,” which tackled a very familiar inner conflict of feeling two opposing voices screaming in one’s head. One might say you’re doing fine, while the other might say you’re doing it all wrong.

Maggie just released the third and final chapter in this trilogy, “Survival Mode,” which happens to be the most vulnerable one yet.

“Survival mode is the final moment in the trilogy, where I am truly alone, in the presence of nobody else but myself,” Maggie says. “I’ve been in a constant state of survival for as long as I can remember. Being alone drowning in my own self deprecating thoughts and traumatic experiences. Even though it’s sad, it’s comfortable being alone, I never want anybody to feel bad for me.”
